After achieving great success in the basketball and business world, Michael Jordan has made it a point to give back to the community. The NBA icon was recently filled with emotion as he made a massive donation to help those in need.
While he was born in New York, MJ did most of his growing up in North Carolina. With such a tight connection to the area, he’s done numerous things to try and uplift the community.
In his latest act of kindness, Michael Jordan made a $10 million donation to a health clinic in North Carolina. The goal of this was is to help those who have limited or no health insurance still get the proper coverage that they deserve. When giving a speech at the clinic, the Chicago Bulls legend was visibly caught up in the moment.
“When the families are not able to support, we’re there to support,” Jordan said. “Don’t have any money, doesn’t matter. We’re gonna do whatever we can to support you.”
Along with attending high school in North Carolina, Jordan also stayed local for college before entering the NBA in 1984. Based on donations like this, it’s evident that he still has deep roots within the community. Thanks to his extremely generous donation, countless families in the area are going to benefit from receiving proper health care.
Former tennis pro praises Michael Jordan for massive donation to health clinic
As expected, this sizable donation from Michael Jordan made waves on social media. While he didn’t do it for the publicity, many people still took the time to applaud him for his charity work.
Among those to react to Jordan’s latest efforts in the community was Boris Becker. The former tennis pro referred to the six-time NBA champion as a legend, not for his skills on the hardwood, but his dedication to helping those in need.
“MJ is a legend,” Becker wrote.
At his peak, Becker was considered one of the top tennis players in the world. Among his most notable accomplishments was winning the championship at Wimbledon at the age of 17. In 15 years as a pro, Becker posted an overall record of 713-214. A few years after he put an end to his playing career, he saw himself inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
During his playing career, Michael Jordan set a standard of what it took to be a superstar and win at the highest level consistently. He’s once again setting an example, only this time it’s with his dedication to charity.
