Evander Kane’s Game 6 status in doubt due to abdomen injury
Evander Kane might not play in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. He missed the last three games due to an abdominal injury and returned to practice on Thursday but in a reduced role.
In the playoffs, Evander Kane scored four goals, assisted four times, and had 37 penalty minutes in 20 games. Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch said that they’re still deciding what to do about Kane’s situation. Whether he plays on Friday depends on how well he recovers from his injury.
NHL fans reacted to Kris Knoblauch’s statement about Evander Kane’s Game 6 status on X.
“He should sit. God awful when he’s out there,” one fan said.
“Play Kane so the Panthers win,” one fan commented.
“Kane simply has to take one for the team and not play the rest of the series,” another fan said.
“Why on earth would you make a change right now,” one fan said.
NHL fans on X have mixed opinions about Kris Knoblauch’s statement. Here are some more fan reactions.
“Kane and Drai are useless right now. I don’t think he wants two injured players in the team right now,” one fan said.
“The Oilers have been doing much better without him… Injecting him into the lineup now would likely be a massive mistake,” another fan added.
“Don’t mess with a winning lineup,” a fan said.
Edmonton Oilers secured another 5-3 win in Evander Kane’s absence

The Florida Panthers had a tough time against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. They fell behind early, giving up two power-play goals and a short-handed goal. By the time they tried to come back, they were down 3-0.
McDavid continued his outstanding play, scoring two goals and assisting on two more, totaling 42 points in the playoffs. This ranks as the fourth-highest in NHL history for a single postseason. His leadership and skill have positioned Edmonton well for a serious Cup challenge.
“Anytime you’re in the same realm as those two, it’s always a good thing,” McDavid said (per CBS Sports).
Matthew Tkachuk’s desperate attempt to prevent a goal showed Florida’s difficulties. Although he cleared the puck from an empty net, Connor McDavid scored again, contributing to Edmonton’s 5-3 victory.
“We get another crack at it on Friday,” Tkachuk said (per NHL.com).
“No. No. No. It’s not an elimination game for us. We’re going up there, we have a 3-2 series lead, just got to take care of business like we did in Game 3,” Tkachuk added.
Game 6 is crucial for Edmonton as they must win to force Game 7, while the Panthers are just one win away from claiming the Stanley Cup.
