Connor McDavid will lead Team Canada at the 2025 NHL 4 Nations Face-Off in Montreal and Boston this February. The Edmonton Oilers captain was named to the 23-player roster on December 4. Sidney Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins captain, is also part of the team. McDavid and Crosby are among the top playmakers in the NHL, and they will help lead Canada’s talented forward group.
McDavid shared his excitement about representing Canada, even though he gave up a vacation in Turks & Caicos with his close friend Leon Draisaitl. He called it special to wear the Canadian jersey and play with some of the best players in the world.
“Nowhere else I’d rather be than, than in Montreal and Boston on those two weeks, special representing your country, special team to be a part of, going to be a great event,” McDavid said.
The Canadian roster includes top players like Nathan MacKinnon, Mitch Marner, and Brad Marchand. The defense features Cale Makar, Alex Pietrangelo and Shea Theodore. In goal, Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault will compete for the starting spot.
Regarding the highly anticipated Canada vs. U.S. matchup, McDavid said:
“Canada vs US on a Saturday night in Montreal. Doesn’t get much better than that. Honestly, it’s going to be electric.”
Connor McDavid is now looking forward to the thrilling experience of playing in that high-energy environment.
Connor McDavid excited for reunion with Crosby, MacKinnon and Bennett
The 2025 NHL 4 Nations Face-Off in February will be the first best-on-best men’s hockey tournament in eight years. It will give an early look at the 2026 Olympics in Milan Cortina, where NHL players will return for the first time since 2014.
Connor McDavid also mentioned how excited he is to play with Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon. He also hopes to reconnect with Sam Bennett, his former minor hockey line mate.
“Hard not to say Sidney Crosby. Hard not to say Nathan MacKinnon. Two guys that are just amazing, some of the greatest ever. It’s gonna be special. Play with them.
“Guys like Cale Makar, really excited about that. Sammy Bennett was my minor hockey line mate for eight years, so hopefully there’s little chemistry there between us still. Looking forward to playing with him as well,” McDavid said.
Team Canada’s lineup has a great mix of talent and fans can look forward to an exciting tournament in February. The teams competing are Canada, the U.S., Sweden and Finland, who have won the last six Olympic medals with NHL players.
