…he brought me back to the UK stage after 10 years
In a heartfelt reveal, American singer Chris Brown has expressed his deep gratitude to Nigerian superstar Wizkid, recounting a pivotal moment in his career that has left an indelible mark on their friendship.
Sharing his story in a post published by Luthortv, Brown referred to Wizkid as his “brother for life,” highlighting how the Nigerian artist’s generosity enabled him to perform on one of the world’s biggest stages in the UK.
Brown, who had not performed in the United Kingdom for over a decade, disclosed that despite his extensive performances across America, he had been unable to perform in the UK due to restrictions. The turning point came in 2021 when Wizkid extended an invitation for him to join his O2 Arena concert, marking a significant moment in Brown’s career. In addition to the invitation, Wizkid covered all of Brown’s expenses, a gesture that deeply moved the American singer.
“Wizkid invited me to my biggest stage in the UK in 10 years. I had been performing all around America and had not gone there for any show before. One day, Wiz called and told me he was getting everything set for me to come to his O2 Arena concert. He paid for everything, and I was wowed. Wizkid is my brother for life,” Brown said.
Brown’s absence from the UK stage was primarily due to a ban imposed by the UK government in 2009, following his guilty plea to assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. The ban, which denied him entry into the UK in 2010, effectively halted any plans for performing in the country.
The 2021 O2 Arena concert not only marked Chris Brown’s return to the UK stage but also solidified his bond with Wizkid. Their friendship, founded on mutual respect and a shared passion for music, continues to resonate with fans around the world. Brown’s emotional tribute to Wizkid has garnered widespread attention, with many fans praising the Nigerian artist for his kindness and support.
