Chicago Blackhawks pull off a signing involving Oilers Connor McDavid (L)

The Blackhawks organization announced today that there AHL affiliate the Rockford ice hogs had re signed Kyle Makismovich to a one year AHL deal.

“Kyle had an outstanding rookie season while playing for the Indy Fuel, and we are excited to watch his development over the next season,” said IceHogs President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Mark Bernard. “He’s a terrific individual that has all of the traits we value in a player and a person.”

The 26-year-old left winger played the majority of his year with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL. During his time, he played 67 games, scoring 26 goals with 33 assists for 59 points with 42 penalty minutes and was a + 13.

He spent several years in the OHL with the Erie Otters and holds ties to Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has he played one season with him in 2014-2015. He has some winning pedigree as he captured an OHL championship in 2017 with the Otters.

It remains to be seen on whether he could try to move up to the Blackhawks in the new season but for now he’ll be working with the ice hogs but the potential still there in his career.
