It was announced recently at the United centre and the area around the arena will be closed due to a security lockdown for the Democratic National Convention.

This convention is part of the ongoing American election cycle which will draw the strictest of security. According to The Hockey News, citizens will be unable to go to the arena or even the neighborhood around the arena as all routes have been blocked and people will need special clearance.

It was also reported that the Blackhawks practice facility the Fifth Third arena will be also closed down.

This convention will run from August 19th through August 22nd. Soon afterwards, operations will resume and the Blackhawks will prepare for training camp which will begin in the middle of September.

The vibe around the team is different this year as general manager Kyle Davidson has made significant change to the roster and hopes to move the needle in the standings.
