2024 NHL draft picks take ‘then and now’ photos during development camps

Macklin Celebrini and Carson Wetsch took Throwback Thursday to another level.
The San Jose Sharks prospects recreated a childhood photo after the prospect scrimmage on Thursday.
In the childhood photo, the two have their backs to the camera as they look through the glass at an ice rink. They took the same picture on Thursday, this time staring at Sharks Ice and wearing Sharks gear.
Celebrini was selected with the No. 1 pick and Wetsch was selected with the No. 82 pick by San Jose in the 2024 NHL Draft last week.
The two forwards grew up in the Vancouver area together.
They weren’t the only prospects who took then and now photos during development camp this week.
Los Angeles Kings second round draft pick Carter George recreated his own childhood photo from 2018. George, who grew up a Kings fan, posed in front of the team’s facility with his hockey bag like he did at 12 years old.
Winnipeg Jets prospect Alfons Freij remade a photo from 2015 at the Jets practice facility. He nailed everything to the pose and his backwards hat in the updated shot.
“When I was 9 years old, I was on a tournament here…two tournaments actually,” the Swedish defenseman said in a video posted by the Jets. “Pretty fun weeks here in Winnipeg. We lost all our games, so that wasn’t good. But I had such a good time here in Winnipeg.”
Talk about full circle moments.
