Newly acquired Canadiens forward Patrik Laine showed his coaching staff his value and what he will bring as a teammate after standing up for Michael Pezzetta after being hit by David Savard.

The players all kept their composure as the likelihood of a fight to break out was unlikely but it also showed the coaching staff along with fans who witnessed the incident that Laine is here to make a statement that he is ready to change his career and to find a new home with the Canadiens.

Laine’s career has been far from ideal after he was selected in the 2016 entry draft second overall behind Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews. Many felt that Laine would have a similar career to Matthews and was always compared but as the years wore on, he was unable to get a consistent season with teams like the Winnipeg Jets and the Columbus Blue Jackets.

He made his goal clear that the Montreal Canadiens will be his new home, and he could be one of the best pickups this year for any team in the NHL as he could regain his form and become the player, he was meant to be giving the rebuilding Canadiens a significant boost and speed up their rebuilding phase.
