Famed Olympian and media personality Caitlyn Jenner on Monday teased a potential bid for California governor, saying she would “destroy” Vice President Kamala Harris.
Californians are slated to elect a new governor in 2026 because incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom is term limited. Jenner wrote on X Monday she would consider running a campaign to fill Gov. Newsom’s vacancy.
“MAKE CA GREAT AGAIN,” Jenner wrote in response to a post about a possible gubernatorial run.
Jenner, who has never held elected office, said in a separate post that “if I ran, and it was ultimately against [Kamala] Harris, I would destroy her.”
“Absolutely not,” Jenner replied. “Which is even more fun.”
The comments come as Harris is reportedly weighing options for her political future. Campaign sources toldPolitico Harris intends to “explore” new political avenues, which may include another run for president or a bid for California governor.
Harris has frequently used the phrase “I am staying in the fight” during phone calls with political allies, the publication wrote. She has not officially announced her intention to seek a new elected office.
“The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships,” a former campaign aide reportedly said of Harris’s immediate political future.
Jenner has been an open supporter of President-elect Donald Trump. In April, she condemned President Joe Biden’s recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility, which coincided with Easter.
“I am absolutely disgusted that Joe Biden has declared the most Holy of Holy days – a self proclaimed devout Catholic – as Transgender Day of Visibility,” Jenner posted on X. “The only thing you should be declaring on this day is ‘HE is Risen’.”
She also drew the ire of radio host Lenard McKelvey, known as Charlamagne tha God, over her support of Trump.
“You know what, Caitlyn?” McKelvey asked. “At the end of the day you can change the top layer—what you was, who you was before you got here—and what you are is a rich white male and that’s why I keep saying ‘him’ when I shouldn’t be, but I can’t stop seeing Caitlyn as a right white male.”
“That identity, pun intended, trumps all,” he added.
