Though Chris Brown‘s 11:11 Tour is coming to end, the crooner may be back on the road sooner than we think.
At the penultimate stop of his current tour in Los Angeles on Tuesday (Aug. 6), Brown concluded the show by saying, “See you next year.” It was a concise sentiment made quickly among his sea of thank-you’s and well wishes.
Brown stood alongside his two daughters, Royalty and Lovely, when making the subtle announcement and giving his final bow. It was a hint that he’d potentially be commemorating the 20th anniversary of his eponymous debut with a tour.
Chris Brown debuted No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the U.S. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart —where it remained for 104 weeks upon its release in 2005. It’s arguably one of those perfect R&B debuts, boasting features from Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, and Juelz Santana and singles such as “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” “Poppin,” “Say Goodbye,” and “Gimme That (Remix).
The lead single — and Brown’s debut — “Run It,” spent five weeks topping the Billboard Hot 100. It remained on the chart for a total of 38 weeks.
The LP sold 154,000 copies in the first week and also earned Breezy his first two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Contemporary R&B Album.
The 11:11 Tour felt like a culmination of Brown’s career over the past 20 years with vibrant visuals and fluid choreography that made the 35-year-old still seem like that same 15-year-old at heart.
So, a tour to commemorate his debut would make sense — similar to Usher’s one night only Confessions performance at ESSENCE Fest and Jill Scott’s Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1 anniversary tour.
