BREAKING: “From The Wizarding Archive” Now Available: A new collection of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World Writings

"From The Wizarding Archive" Now Available

Today, August 29, 2024, marks the release of “From the Wizarding Archive: Curated Writing from the World of Harry Potter.” This publication has been anticipated by fans eager to access J.K. Rowling’s supplementary writings in a consolidated format. Now that the book is available, we can provide an overview of its contents.

The new book divides its 80 articles into 17 thematic chapters, beginning with “The Dursleys” and “The Potters and the Malfoys,” progressing through “How the Wizarding World Works,” “Alternate Histories,” and “Fame in the Wizarding World,” before concluding with “Exploring Hogwarts.” Each chapter features an introduction crafted by the editorial team at Pottermore Publishing, and every article is prefaced with a brief contextual note about its specific topic. In the ebook version, this organization is visually enhanced with appealing iconography from the magical world of Harry Potter.

Regarding its contents, the “From The Wizarding Archive” collection includes all 36 items from Pottermore Presents, resolving earlier speculation about potential omissions. Notably, all Quidditch World Cup content, including the “History of Quidditch” and “Scottish Rugby” article, has been excluded, and the collection also omits Hogwarts House Welcome Messages, textbook excerpts, and sorting quiz texts, available since the original Pottermore experience. In contrast to earlier predictions, all wandlore content has been included, providing comprehensive information on wand cores, woods, and lengths.  Regarding “Wizarding Schools,” only the introduction and entries for Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are included, leaving out information on other magical institutions. The “Magic in North America” series, a tie-in to the Fantastic Beasts films, is also absent. Several other articles, including “Illness and Disability,” “Number Four, Privet Drive,” and “Measurements,” are missing for unclear reasons.
