Blackhawks take big loss against Canucks, Captain Nick Foligno faces potential discipline following postgame comments

The Blackhawks took a hard fall to the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night at the United Center, making it two straight losses. Many believe the game would’ve been different after a NHL official missed a penalty on the Canucks, including team captain Nick Foligno.
The Canucks’ fourth goal sparked frustration as they had seven players on the ice at the time, a clear too many men penalty which was missed. Foligno did not mince his words, stating:
“They screwed up. They know that. I just don’t understand why they all were seeing it and they didn’t want to call it at the time,” Foligno said about the referees. “That was the only thing, and I just didn’t like his response at the time. But he owned it after.”
Blackhawks radio host Charlie Roumelotis shared a clip that proved Vancouver’s too many men missed call, where the Vancouver Canucks had seven skaters on the ice.
Foligno believed that the missed call swung momentum of the game, when the Canucks scored a goal with seven players on the ice, eight including their goaltender. Foligno was further disappointed in his linemates as well, stating:
“Especially our line, we pride ourselves on starting on time, and we didn’t get the job done on the first shift,” Foligno said. “It’s disappointing on my end and just as a team because it sets the tone for a lot of the game. I didn’t think we had any emotion after that.”
Ryan Donato, Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi’s goals were not enough for the Blackhawks to overtake the Canucks, and now the Blackhawks face the Nashville Predators this Friday.
