“You cannot live without facing failure unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not be living at all, and that is definitely a failure,” Rowling said.

She also submitted her manuscript to 12 publishers, all of whom rejected it. However, on the 13th attempt, success finally came when a publisher agreed to publish her work.

“I no longer deceive myself into thinking I have more than I do and started pouring all my energy into completing the work that I find important. If I had truly succeeded in any other field, perhaps I would never have found the determination in the field where I truly belong – literature,” Rowling confided.
