Netizens dug up “The Idol” starring Jennie BLACKPINK amid Diddy’s arrest
Amid the scandal of “Hip-Hop tycoon” Diddy, the movie “The Idol” starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, with the participation of Jennie, was suddenly mentioned.
The fact that Diddy (real name is Sean John Combs) was arrested on a series of charges is one of the hot topics on social networks recently. International media revealed that Diddy’s behavior was carefully hidden behind the cover of flashy parties, gathering many Hollywood stars.
The “white parties” that Diddy organized are being dug up.
In the midst of that scandal, netizens suddenly reminded about The Idol (starring by The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp and starring Jennie (BLACKPINK). Netizens said that the film caused great controversy regarding the quality of its content but partly reflected the scary, disgusting dark side behind the glamor of Hollywood.
The Idol offers a different perspective when young artists become “prey” of those in power, become “little puppies” of managers, manipulated in both thoughts and actions. To pursue their dreams, they are forced to lose themselves in lavish parties, unable to escape on their own.
Some aspects that The Idol shows are said to reflect Diddy’s scandal. Behind the brilliant aura of the stars is a black curtain that hides a lot of humiliation.
In episode 3 of The Idol, there is also a line mentioning “Epstein Island”. This is the same, equally shocking scandal that Diddy was exposed. “Epstein Island” refers to the private island Little St. James, owned by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. He used it for prostitution and committed many crimes, making it also known as “pedophile island”. Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide while awaiting trial in 2019.
The Idol failed because it was not skillful, even “too obvious” in conveying its message.
Diddy’s scandal will be exposed more clearly in a documentary released by Netflix. Currently the two executive producers of the project are Alexandra Stapleton and Curtis Jackson, commonly known by the stage name 50 Cent.
