If he approaches his managerial career the way he did his playing career, Alexander Steen will make a great hockey executive, says Ken Campbell.

According to PuckPedia, Alexander Steen pulled in just over $59 million during his NHL playing career, so we know he doesn’t need a management gig to make ends meet.
But unlike a lot of players who think they want to be NHL executives, only to find out it’s too much work, Steen will undoubtedly be willing to put in the time and effort to become a top-notch executive with the St. Louis Blues.
That’s what he did as an NHL player. And Steen has the advantage of learning under one of the best in the business in Doug Armstrong as the current special assistant to the GM before the latter transitions into a more senior role with the Blues. In 2026, Steen will then become the team’s next GM.
Despite Steen’s relative inexperience and the news being a bit out of the Blue, it’s a great hire. Here’s more:
