A scary incident happened on the Chicago Blackhawks bench during their game against the Dallas Stars when the Chicago Blackhawks Coach was escorted out of the game

A scary incident happened on the Chicago Blackhawks bench during tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars where assistant coach Derek King got hit in the head with a puck that went into the bench.

Derek King was an innocent bystander to a flying puck tonight, and when he was hit, he was taken off the bench and didn’t return.

In the clip below, you can see the puck caught him square in the face.

#Blackhawks assistant coach Derek King is not on the Chicago bench after taking a puck to the head.

Derek King filled in for Jeremy Colliton as head coach a couple years ago when Colliton was fired.

Luke Richardson was then hired, and King stayed with the organization as an assistant coach, in a role that was well earned for him stepping up when Colliton got his marching orders.

He filled in for a year as the Blackhawks got their ducks in a row in their search for a new head coach.

King was without a job for 14 days after Richardson was hired, and was then rehired for the assistant head coach position.

That whole first period the Blackhawks got beat up, as both forward Jason Dickinson and defenseman Alec Martinez got hit with shot pucks in the leg.

Martinez after he got hit looked like he was going to head off the ice, but he toughed out his shift, along with Dickinson, who both fell down in a heap after they got hit.

Hopefully the rest of the game isn’t like that, as the Hawks cannot afford any more injuries and the lines cannot be shifted anymore.

Richardson has to start building some chemistry, because the team needs it.

We hope Derek King is okay and gets whatever help he needs, as he’s a valuable piece to the coaching staff and Chicago as a whole.
