The Suffolk side beat Exeter City 6-0 to win promotion
Ed Sheeran has taken to Instagram to celebrate Ipswich Town’s return to the EFL Championship after four years. The Suffolk side secured promotion on Saturday following a 6-0 thrashing of Exeter City at Portman Road.
Five of the goals were scored in the first 32 minutes.
Bad Habit’s singer Ed is arguably one of the club’s most famous fans and has been the Blues’ shirt sponsor since the 2021/22 season.

Posting on his Instagram account, the 32-year-old shared a photo of himself wearing an Ipswich Town shirt, holding the badge and smiling as he looks down at it.
The caption read: “E I E I O, up the football league we go ! @ipswichtown,”

Ed, who grew up in nearby Framlingham, confirmed last summer that he would be continuing his sponsorship of the football club’s shirts for the 2022/23 season. They currently feature his Mathematics tour logo.
