Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shed light on eighth inning debacle leading to 6-4 loss (Source: IMAGN)
Entering the eighth inning, the Dodgers led 4-3, with Daniel Hudson on the mound to see them through. Chourio, who homered earlier in the game, started the inning with a double, followed by a walk to Garrett Mitchell and an infield single by William Contreras to load up the bases.
However, Dave Roberts let Hudson continue pitching. Hudson allowed a single to Willy Adames and grounders, which saw the lead evaporate as the Brewers scored three in the inning to go up 6-4. After the game, Roberts shed light on missed opportunities, which could have minimized the damage.

Bo Bichette injury update: Manager John Schneider shares positive update on Blue Jays star’s potential return from calf injury
“From the first hitter, made a mistake with (Jackson) Chourio, and in a one-run ball game, he gave up the pull-side double, and then you’re trying to manage that run. Then he gives up the unfortunate walk to Mitchell, and then even after that, he gets a ground ball that was a double play ball that just unfortunately hit him,” Roberts said.
“It was right at Gavin; it’s a double play ball, and I think later on that inning, another ball hit him, the black ball, just to Kike’s left, so we couldn’t turn to there and fortunate enough to get it out, so it just kind of went awry that inning, but you know it’s one of those things that happens but very uncharacteristic of Huddy (Hudson).
Devin Williams’ yet another save having numbers of Dodgers top hitters
Brewers’ closer Devin Williams was tasked yet again with saving them a narrow lead and splitting the series. Williams was coming off a 5-4 save situation, retiring the Dodgers’ top-hitting trio of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freeman to earn his second save of the season after a four-month early-season hiatus.
On Thursday, yet again, Ohtani and Betts were scheduled to take at-bats in the ninth, trying to make a comeback in the game. Williams started the inning by popping out Andy Pages to see Ohtani at plate.
Calm as a cucumber, William registered back-to-back strikeouts against Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts to earn his third save of the season. While the Dodgers will rue their missed chances, the Brewers will happily take the wins in their last two close games.
