If Eminem is planning a follow up to his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), he probably should look outside the Philadelphia Eagles locker room for features.
Cornerback Cooper DeJean took the stage in front of his Eagles teammates for Philadelphia’s rookie talent show at training camp and didn’t exactly do the rapper’s iconic song, Lose Yourself, justice:
DeJean struggled so much that some of his teammates booed him off stage and threw stuff at him while laughing.
The rookie cornerback isn’t the first NFL player to choose an Eminem impression during talent shows in front of teammates. Jerome Kapp, then of the New York Jets, put on a rendition of the rapper’s freestyle from the movie 8 Mile that was captured by HBO’s Hard Knocks last year and even earned a salute from the man himself:
Fortunately for DeJean, the Eagles didn’t draft him for his rapping skills.
The second-round pick out of Iowa could compete for playing time in the secondary and as a punt returner after thriving as an All-American in his final season with the Hawkeyes.
And he will probably perform much better on the field than he did with this rap.
