Aaron Judge, Yankees

He took off in May with a stellar 20-game stretch and continued to add momentum as the season progressed while ensuring that his team also achieves success.

As the MLB regular season approaches its conclusion, Forbes’ Tony Blengino assessed the AL MVP race with a unique analysis that relies on batted ball data, calculating the expected damage a player should produce based on their exit velocity and launch angle. His top five list of prime MVP candidates included Yordan Alvarez, Gunnar Henderson, Bobby Witt Jr, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. The New York Yankees captain led the race with an 88.2 TPRAA, while Soto was placed second with an 82.0 TPRAA. Judge’s combination of power, discipline, and exit velocity (96.0 mph average) puts him atop the MVP race. His Adjusted Fly Ball Contact Score of 317 leads the AL, and despite playing through injury, he continues to dominate across all offensive metrics.

Though his defense in center field is subpar, his offensive impact far outweighs any fielding concerns. Notably, Aaron Judge is leading the AL in home runs, runs scored, RBIs, and OPS. With 56 home runs in the kitty, he is set to score at least 60 as the New York Yankees are headed into the playoffs. Judge has been a constant source of power this year and is churning out remarkable number of runs at a surreal consistency. His ability to deliver each time he is on the plate has forced the opposition to opt for Barry Bonds’s treatment, i.e., allowing intentional walks to limit the damage. Regardless, the Yankee captain continues to shine and contribute to his team’s success. Following a 16-game home run drought, Judge is back to scoring as usual, which is a massive sign of encouragement for the Yankees, a premier contender for the World Series this year.

Judge Gets Robbed Off A Heroic Run Scoring Opportunity!

Aaron Judge, YankeesNY Post
In New York Yankees recent 5-3 loss to Baltimore Orioles, captain Aaron Judge was robbed off an opportunity to score a game tying run. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Juan Soto drove an RBI but Gleyber Torres stationed at third base went for an unnecessary run at home and was tagged out, thus ending the inning.

Had Gleyber Torres been safe, the next batter in was Aaron Judge. He had already scored a home run earlier in the game and could have scored a game-tying run as well. A win would have made the New York Yankees clinch the AL-East division. However, it wasn’t meant to be, as the Orioles booked a playoff spot with a win.
