Caitlin Clark Reflects on Heartbreaking Loss to Angel Reese and Chicago Sky

Caitlin Clark says that losses like the way they fell to the Chicago Sky 'can't happen again'

Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever has candidly addressed the team’s recent loss to the Chicago Sky, emphasizing that such a collapse “can’t happen again.” The Fever, who once held a commanding 15-point lead in the third quarter, ultimately fell 88-87 to their Windy City rivals, leaving a bitter taste for Clark and her teammates.

In a post-game reflection, Clark spoke openly about the lessons the team needs to learn from this defeat. “It stinks,” she admitted. “It was a game we felt like we could have won and put ourselves in a position to win after three quarters.”

Angel Reese was able to overcome a 15-point deficit to lead the Sky to a victory over Indiana
The Fever were up by 12 points with seven minutes remaining, but their lead dwindled rapidly. “I think you can’t dwell on it too much, but it can’t happen again,” Clark asserted. She highlighted the importance of analyzing game footage to avoid similar mistakes in future matchups. “We have another situation where we’re up 15 in the fourth quarter. You have to be able to still attack and be aggressive, but also play really great defense. You can’t foul as much. That stops the clock. That’s three points when the clock’s not even moving. That’s the worst thing that you can do.”

Acknowledging the team’s inexperience, Clark stressed the necessity of learning from such setbacks. “Like I said, we’re in an inexperienced group. You have to learn from it. That’s the only thing you can do.”

The recent game also marked the third showdown between Clark and her college rival, Angel Reese, who now plays for the Chicago Sky. Reese, known as the “Bayou Barbie” from her LSU days, secured her eighth consecutive double-double, making history as the first WNBA rookie to record a 25-plus-point and 15-plus-rebound double-double since A’Ja Wilson.

Despite the loss, Clark delivered an impressive performance, notching a double-double with 17 points, a franchise-high 13 assists, and six rebounds. However, the night belonged to Reese, whose standout play underscored her growing dominance in the league.

As the Indiana Fever look ahead, Clark’s focus remains on growth and resilience, aiming to turn painful lessons into future victories.
