The editor-in-chief of Variety magazine, Ramin Setoodeh, asked Donald Trump what he thought about Taylor Swift – described as “the most famous person in our time” in an article published by Variety.
Singer Taylor Swift expressed her views on politics
“She has the qualities of a great star,” admitted Donald Trump (77). However, he continued, “I think Swift is liberal. Perhaps she doesn’t like me. She’s very talented. I find her to be really beautiful – in a different kind of way!” The Republican politician stated that he didn’t “know much” about Taylor Swift’s music. “Is she liberal or just pretending?” Trump asked Setoodeh. “I’m surprised that a country music star can succeed in living by the principles of freedom,” Trump remarked.
Setoodeh informed Trump that the 34-year-old Grammy-winning singer had transitioned from country music to pop music over a decade ago.

Taylor Swift, known for her conservative views, publicly endorsed Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House in October 2018. “Previously, I did not want to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to events in my life and in the world over the past two years, I feel differently now. I have and will always vote for the candidate who protects and fights for the human rights that I believe we all deserve in this country,” singer-songwriter Taylor Swift explained via Instagram at the time.
In June 2019, Taylor Swift released the song “You Need to Calm Down,” criticizing supporters of “free speech rights” who discriminate against LGBTQ+ people. Fans felt that Donald Trump was the inspiration behind the song.

In the documentary film “Miss Americana,” released in January 2020, Taylor Swift detailed her decision to become a political voice. Later that year, the pop icon targeted Trump as a result of his response to the killing of George Floyd by a police officer, which sparked nationwide protests.
Following this, Taylor Swift also publicly endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in October 2020, telling the press that she believed Biden “has a better chance of beginning the healing process for America.”
