I’ve learned quite a bit about the royal family after Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir, Spare, in 2023. For instance, I would’ve never guessed that King Charles carried an old Teddy Bear with him everywhere he went. And I was surprised to learn about the monarch’s rather odd nickname for the Duke of Sussex. But of course, the revelations don’t end there.

In a newly surfaced excerpt, per Town & Country, the Duke of Sussex opened up about the day his brother, Prince William, tied the knot with Princess Catherine at Westminster Abbey. The royal looked dapper in his Blues and Royals uniform, but as it turns out, he wasn’t a big fan of the ensemble, noting that the outfit made him feel “uncomfortable.”

Prince Harry wrote, “I assured [William] that he looked bloody smart in the Harp of Ireland, with the Crown Imperial and the forage cap with the regimental motto: Quis Separabit? Who shall separate us? It didn’t seem to make an impression. I, on the other hand, did not look smart, nor did I feel comfortable, in my Blues and Royals uniform, which protocol dictated that I wear.”

Harry continued, “I’d never worn it before and hoped not to wear it again anytime soon. It had huge shoulder pads and huge cuffs, and I could imagine people saying: Who’s this idiot? I felt like a kitsch version of Johnny Bravo.”

Prince Harry wasn’t the only one who preferred a different wedding ensemble. He also mentioned that his brother wanted to wear his Household Cavalry kit, but the option was rejected by Queen Elizabeth, and she told him to wear the red uniform of the Irish Guards.

Although Prince Harry wasn’t too pleased with his attire, he did have a few heartwarming moments at the ceremony. In fact, he detailed how he became sentimental after watching his brother walk his new bride down the aisle.

He wrote, “I loved my new sister-in-law. I felt she was more sister than in-law, the sister I’d never had and always wanted, and I was pleased that she’d forever be standing by Willy’s side. She was a good match for my older brother. They made each other visibly happy, and therefore I was happy too.”
