Harry Potter fans are counting down the days (well, years) until the release of HBO’s TV series adaptation of the famous books by British author J.K. Rowling.
According to Deadline, the author made a deal with the network in 2023, and will be involved in the project so she has creative control over her work.
“Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series,” Rowling said in a statement.

Deadline notes that the show is set to hit screens in 2026, though it seems it’s still in the very early stages. Rowling, who’s a billionaire, has had her fair share of controversies in recent years, and has been criticised for her transphobic comments on social media.
Here’s what we know about J.K. Rowling’s kids:

Rowling has two children with her current husband Neil Murray. They had their first child together, David Gordon Rowling Murray, in 2003, and their second, Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray, in 2005. Rowling also shares a 31-year-old daughter named Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes with her first husband, Jorge Arantes.
According to the Irish Mirror, Rowling’s eldest daughter Jessica got engaged in 2021, though it’s unclear when and to whom she got married.

If you try to search for information about Rowling’s children online, you won’t find much, as they’ve done a good job keeping themselves out of the limelight. As revealed in an interview with The Guardian in 2000, Rowling doesn’t allow journalists into her house, and her then-six-year-old daughter Jessica was kept away from the press.
According to The Guardian interview, things weren’t easy for Rowling and Jessica in the early days. “I just never expected to mess up so badly that I would find myself in an unheated, mouse-infested flat, looking after my daughter. And I was angry because I felt I was letting her down,” she said, describing what it was like being a mother for the first time during the early stages of her career. When asked if her daughter got jealous of the fictional character of Harry, Rowling replied, “Oh no, she knows, and she’s right, that she’s top dog. She’s got a healthy ego, in the best way.”

According to The Guardian, the lovebirds tied the knot at Rowling’s mansion in secret on Boxing Day in 2001. The same report states that only 15 close friends and relatives – including Rowling’s sister Dianne, Rowling’s daughter Jessica and Murray’s sister Lorna – were invited to the ceremony.
