Selena Gomez‘s boyfriend Benny Blanco has opened up about their ‘crazy’ first date as he made a heartfelt confession about the actress.

The music producer, 36, and the Only Murders in the Building star, 32, first went public with their relationship in December 2023.

Appearing on Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream on Tuesday, the songwriter – whose real name is Benjamin Joseph Levin – opened up about their romance.

Revealing that Selena was the one to ask him on a date, he said: ‘She asked me out. It was crazy, it was crazy.

She literally asked me… like we were just talking, and then she said, “You wanna get dinner?” And I went to the dinner, and I had no idea.’

Kai asked: ‘Were you nervous?’

The producer replied: ‘No, ’cause I’ve been friends with her for years. We’ve been friends for like 10 years plus, maybe 15. I met her when she was like a friend. I met her when she was so much younger.

‘We’re close in age, but like we were just talking, and then she was like, “Oh, let’s go get dinner tomorrow.” And I was like, “I’m going to this thing with my friends, why don’t you come hang out with me first, then we’ll go link for dinner.”

‘So we just went and got a drink first, and I didn’t even realise we were on a date. And she was like, “I would’ve worn something different to this date.” And I was like, “Wait, what? We’re on a date?” I had no idea. No idea we were on a date.

‘She left early because she had to go somewhere to film a video the next day, and then we hung out like two days later, and then I was like, “Yo, I think she likes me.” And then I literally just kissed her, and the rest is history.

‘I literally just kissed her.’

‘Every day together, like as many days as we can, every day. She’s my best friend. Actual best friend,’ he added.

It comes after Selena gushed about her boyfriend Benny’s unconditional love, after he was featured in People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue.

The Emilia Pérez actress took to her Instagram Stories to repost one of the photos from the magazine, which saw the Grammy-nominated producer laying on a table with pizza in front of him.

‘Not only do you love me unconditionally, you always get me my Taco Bell Mexican pizza,’ Selena wrote underneath the snap.

She also tagged Benny in her second post, where she shared a quote from William C. Hannan that read: ‘I still haven’t figured out how to sit across from you, and not be madly in love with everything you do.’

The Come And Get It singer went public with Benny in December, revealing that they had been secretly dating for six months.

A source shared that Selena is ‘ready to settle down’ and feels that she ‘has found the love of her life’ in Benny.

‘He makes her feel secure and happy. They both think they’ve found the person they’ll be with forever,’ the insider told Us Weekly.

‘She definitely sees this relationship going the distance,’ the source added, noting that her ‘friends and family’ are also enthusiastic about the match.

The insider shared details of their long-term plans, saying: ‘They’ve talked about marriage and having children and are very much on the same page.’

Selena, whose property portfolio includes homes in Los Angeles and Manhattan, is now said to want to live in New York because Benny is based there.

Benny is himself a high-flyer in the music industry, as a record producer and songwriter who has worked with a variety of artists including Selena, Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Charlie Puth and Kanye West.
