Olivia Dunne and Paul Skenes shared an awkward moment after the Pittsburgh Pirates star was unveiled as the MLB’s Rookie of the Year on Monday night.
The two athletes sat next to each other while they waited for the announcement. Dunne let out a yell and clapped, making little effort to hide how happy she was as Skenes’ name was called.
The pitcher was the total opposite, mostly keeping a straight face.
The gymnast congratulated her guy as he put a hand around her shoulder while she moved in for a kiss. They didn’t seem to be on the same page, however.
It appears Skenes was going for a peck on the lip, but Dunne turned her right cheek toward him, forcing her to maneuver so he could reach her left side and kiss her on the shoulder.
Check it out in the video below:
“Bro doesn’t even look excited,” someone observed.
“Livvy didn’t get the memo that this result was expected 😂,” another laughed.
“First kisses are always awkward,” someone joked.
“Well those two are done,” someone strangely predicted.
“Congrats to Livvy on her award,” a comment read.
“What’s the deal here? Most awkward video I’ve ever seen,” another stated.
Paul Skenes Isn’t So Hot Out Of The Ball Park
Paul Skenes is much better at anticipating movement on the diamond, having put a brilliant first season on display and earning a starting All-Star nod.
The former LSU star went 11-3 with an ERA of 1.96 over 133 innings with 170 strikeouts and 2.45 WHP.
He and Dunne met at said university and began dating in the summer of 2023. It appears they haven’t quite gotten their timing right as yet.
