The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to have a long season ahead of them. They’ve missed two consecutive playoffs despite Sidney Crosby playing elite hockey, and they’ve started the season worse than anyone had expected.
On Monday, things went from bad to worse as they were embarrassed on home ice by the Dallas Stars. The Stars scored six (!) unanswered goals in the first period, with the Penguins falling behind 6-0 after just 20 minutes played.

Penguins’ embarrassing loss to the Stars
The Penguins have now played 17 games and have a 6-9-2 record, which ranks them 7th in the Metropolitan Division. The Columbus Blue Jackets, ranked last, are only two points behind—but they’ve also played three games less.
Looking at win percentage, only four teams rank worse than the Penguins’ .412 in the entire league. And now, fans and insiders feel that something needs to happen.
Insider want Sidney Crosby in Colorado
After the Penguins’ 7-1 loss to the Stars, Paul Bissonnette, co-host of the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast and analyst for TNT, took to X to suggest a shocking trade for Crosby.
”Crosby to the Avalanche. Do it for hockey,” he wrote in a post that gained a lot of attention and likes.
Sidney Crosby is close friends with Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon, and many agreed that it would be a thrill to see the reigning Hart Trophy winner and one of hockey’s biggest legends on the same team.
Former NHLer and Bissonnette’s co-host on Spittin’ Chiclets, Ryan Whitney, also took to X to comment on the Penguins’ horrific game.
”At what point does Pittsburgh have to do something drastic,” he said.
