Michael Rapaport alleges that an anonymous NBA player told him LeBron James is the fakest player in the NBA (Image credit: Imagn)
According to actor and comedian Michael Rapaport’s source, LeBron James isn’t who he seems to be. Although James has built up a reputation as a family man who spends a considerable amount of money on philanthropic efforts, Rapaport alleges that an NBA player told him James is the “fakest” player in the league.
During an appearance on Vlad TV this week, Rapaport said that way back at the 2011 NBA All-Star weekend, he and his kids were in attendance. As Rapaport alleges, he knew James pretty well by this time thanks to a number of previous run-ins.
In the past, James had been respectful, especially when he first got into the league, referring to Rapaport as “sir”. However, for whatever reason, James allegedly wanted nothing to do with Rapaport or his kids at the 2011 All-Star Game.
Instead of giving the actor and comedian’s two young kids a handshake or fist bump, he apparently decided to walk away after looking directly at Rapaport. As he went on to say, another NBA player told him that James is the fakest player in the league.
“I will say, and I’ll never say who, but a player in the NBA did once tell me and the hair on the back of my head stood up when he said this, he goes, ‘He’s the fakest player in the league. He’s the fakest motherf***er in the league.’ When he said it it felt like he needed to get it off his chest, and that’s all I’m going to say.”
“… His presentation and his persona isn’t what you get behind closed doors.”
“I damn sure wasn’t going the other way,” – LeBron James opens up on endorsement of Kamala Harris
The story told by Michael Rapaport isn’t the only reason LeBron James has been in the news this week. In addition to the story told by the actor and comedian, the future Hall of Famer also made headlines for his return to Cleveland alongside his son, Bronny, and his endorsement of Kamala Harris.
With the US election right around the corner, James released a video on social media Thursday with quotes from Donald Trump set over a video montage. The video, and LeBron James’ endorsement, were quick to go viral with fans on both sides weighing in.
As LeBron James explained to media members following Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors, he was planning to endorse Harris earlier in the week. Ultimately, however, he decided that doing so would take some of the spotlight off of he and Bronny’s return to Cleveland so he decided against it.
As he told media members, making sure fans knew where he stood was important:
“I wanted to make sure it was seen, heard, and heard with force. I have a daughter, a wife, mother, things of that nature that she believes in when it comes to women’s rights and when it comes to the future of my kids and where I see where our country should be, I feel like that endorsement is only right.
“And come on, I mean, you guys know me. I damn sure wasn’t going the other way.”
LeBron James and the Lakers will now head to Detroit for a game against the Pistons on Monday before then playing the Grizzlies on Wednesday after having Election Day off on Tuesday.
