The Los Angeles Lakers finally found a much-needed win after suffering back-to-back losses against the Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers. They came victorious with a 131-125 win over the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena. As has often been the case, Anthony Davis played a crucial role in the Lakers’ success, showcasing his talent throughout the game.
Despite the win, Davis expressed dissatisfaction with how the team performed. Davis was particularly frustrated with how the Lakers allowed the Raptors to rally back, giving up 31 points in the second quarter and 38 in the third.
“Unacceptable. Yeah, we won; we’ll take the win for sure because it’s hard to win in this league, especially on the road. But we’re a long way from where we want to be,” Davis said.
“If we’re gonna do anything and have any goals or aspirations this season, we can’t let that happen. We weren’t able to do what we want to do on a defensive end that they got very comfortable coming out of halftime in that second quarter,” he added.
Anthony Davis Solidifies His Place Among NBA’s All-Time Greats
In the game against the Toronto Raptors, Anthony Davis recorded 38 points on an efficient 14-of-20 shooting from the field. His well-rounded stat line included 11 rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks.
With the performance, AD joined an elite group from 1976–77. With 80 games meeting this criterion, he now ranks alongside legends like Hakeem Olajuwon and Giannis Antetokounmpo for the most career games with more than 35 points. Shaquille O’Neal leads the list with 115 games, followed closely by Karl Malone with 114.
This season, Davis is averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game, with a 57.3% shooting percentage. His consistent high-level play is the main reason for the Lakers’ current standing, 4-2.
