The Boston Bruins are not happy with the officiating on Monday afternoon and that has resulted in a pretty feisty game between them and the Florida Panthers in the early going.
The Bruins were incensed in the first period when a questionable hit delivered to the back of star forward David Pastrnak went uncalled by the officials. The hit, which came courtesy of Panthers forward A.J. Greer, caught Pastrnak right between the numbers and sent him crashing face first into the legs/shin pads of Panthers forward Jesper Boqvist. Pastrnak could be seen bleeding on the Bruins bench, which no doubt contributed to how frustrated the Bruins were at the non-call.
Pastrnak was relatively alright though and would remain in the game but when the Panthers went after him a second time, Bruins captain Brad Marchand had simply had enough. Marchand threw his gloves off and immediately went after Florida’s Nate Schmidt, although not much of a fight would occur as the officials quickly stepped in.
There is already a lot of bad blood between these two franchises stemming from the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs and it seems like today’s afternoon game is only adding to it. There are still at least 40 minutes of hockey to play in this game, so we may not have seen the last of the clashes between these two teams today.
