The Chicago Sky celebrated a historic moment recently but fans noticed that Angel Reese wasn’t present at the event. Some well-known franchise members were present at the Sky’s groundbreaking ceremony for their new practice facility on Wednesday at Bedfork Rock.
The team’s general manager, Jeff Pagliocca, was present at the event and addressed the absence of their star rookie. Pagliocca said that the organization’s connection with Reese is doing well. However, fans seemed to disagree and started to put the pieces together.
Chicago’s head coach, Teresa Weatherspoon, was fired recently after just one season in charge of the team. The franchise wanted to change, but the general manager said it wasn’t an easy choice to let Weatherspoon leave.
This decision didn’t sit well with Reese, the best player on the team. She shared her opinions about letting go of the head coach after just one season on X (previously Twitter).
“I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life,” Reese posted. “…You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon.”

“Why was she not at this event?” Another fan asked about Reese’s absence.

Other fans didn’t hold back in sharing their thoughts about the franchise either.
“That whole Chicago Sky organization is a mess.😂 ” a fan said.
“This org moves so weird,” another fan commented.
“She’s the face of the damn franchise !! This could have been scheduled on a day she WAS available,” one fan said.
Angel Reese posts cryptic tweets on X
Aside from her heartfelt message for her former coach, Angel Reese caught the attention of fans with her cryptic posts on X made earlier today. This came following the update about her brace being off her wrist already.
“Grass low snakes show…,” Reese posted.
“When they show you who they are the first time, BELIEVE THEM!” The star rookie followed it up.
Fans speculate that this has something to do with the Sky’s decision to fire Weatherspoon. However, the head coach was fired during the last week of September, which makes Reese’s posts outdated.
The former LSU star hasn’t addressed her posts on social media yet and fans are eager to learn about the story behind it.
