The Harry Potter author hit out at her critics who have been angered by her views that biological men should not share prisons with vulnerable female inmates

JK Rowling has accused her critics of being unrighteous as she hit out at plans to hosue biological males with female prisoners
JK Rowling has taken aim at “trans activist outrage” over her views that biological men should not be put in prison with women. And the Harry Potter author proclaimed that ‘women’s rights are human rights’ as she accused those wanting to house female prisoners with biological men of being “not righteous”.
Edinburgh-based Rowling has become a hate figure among transgender campaigners for her belief that single-ѕєχ spaces for women should be protected. And she called out her critics on social media site X on Tuesday.

In a lengthy message, the 58-year-old said: “The trans activist outrage that ensues on here whenever I share my belief that jailed women shouldn’t be used as validation tools or emotional support props for trans-identified male ѕєχ offenders is as revealing as it’s predictable.” She accused her opponents of not being able to “concede that a man who was convicted of harming women/girls ought not to be incarcerated with the demographic to whom he is a proven danger”.
Rowling said many activists only did that because their “stock arguments” would be “exposed as the lies they are”. She included examples of people claiming no ѕєχual predator would pretend to be trans, no trans woman has ever harmed a woman in a women’s only space, and “there is no danger in making all single ѕєχ spaces uniѕєχ”.
She added: “If they admit that even a single man isn’t a woman because he says he is, the entire edifice of gender identity ideology crumbles. This leaves activists who rely on bullying and slogans with nowhere to go but ‘you hate all trans people’, ‘so you’re saying all trans people are rapists’ and, of course, ‘you are causing a trans genocide.’
“I think this particular issue also causes conniptions because it threatens the activists’ self image. These are people who preen themselves on their kindness and virtue, so acknowledging the truth – that they’re indifferent to vulnerable women being assaulted or traumatised – threatens the idea they have of themselves. They therefore double down.”
Rowling went on to say those who support putting “violent and ѕєχually predatory males” in women’s prisons were “knowingly forcing those women to live in fear of, and, in some proven cases, to suffer abuse that many of them will have endured pre-incarceration”. She concluded: “You are not kind.
“You are not righteous. Women have the basic human right not to suffer cruel and unusual punishment.” The writer signed the message off saying “#WomensRightsAreHumanRights”.
Rowling was responding to a review by the Scottish Prison Service that female prisoners were terrified that transgender prisoners would be allowed in their prisons. It followed the case of double rapist Isla Bryson who was initially remanded in a female prison despite being a biological male.
