Man arrested over death of Adam Johnson has bail extended: Reports (IMAGN)
The man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of hockey player Adam Johnson from Nottingham has officially had his bail extended by local police.
While the investigation continues, the man arrested has seen his bail extended to November 11, 2024. This comes after his second bail period, which began in June, expired. He was first put on bail after his initial arrest in November 2023.
A spokesperson for the local police said via Mirror:
“Our investigation is ongoing, and our thoughts remain with Adam’s family. If there are any developments in the investigation ahead of the new bail expiry date, these will be issued proactively on the South Yorkshire Police website.”
The former Pittsburgh Penguins player suffered what proved to be a fatal neck injury from a skate. He sustained this injury during a collision with Sheffield Steelers player Matt Petgrave.
Johnson was then transported to Sheffield in October 2023. He was pronounced dead shortly after, and the examination after his death confirmed that the neck injury had been the cause of death.
Adam Johnson’s obituary sheds light on former hockey star
Adam Johnson was a former Pittsburgh Penguins player. He played 13 NHL games during the 2018–19 and 2019–20 seasons. Johnson also played in Europe with the Malmo Redhawks, Augsburger Panthers, and Nottingham Panthers.

His obituary, which was released in the wake of his tragic demise in October 2023:
“Adam loved the outdoors and the simple things in life. He enjoyed yard work, fishing, golfing with buddies, playing in the Iron Ice hockey tournament, projects around the house, reading, following the stock market and listening to his favourite music.”
The obituary added that he especially enjoyed quiet time drinking coffee with his fiancee Ryan. They had dreams about their future and enjoying the mornings together.
Though Johnson was a hockey player at various levels and that comes with fame, the obituary detailed that he enjoyed a slower lifestyle and took pleasure in small, everyday things. It called him thoughtful, patient, and authentic.
