“I’m never going to let my bro down,” said Dr. Dre of his longtime collaborator and Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop business partner

The longtime collaborators recently opened up about their 30-year relationship in an interview with the Capital XTRA radio program, and Snoop explained how they’ve become like family over the decades — while doing business together.

“Dr. Dre has like always been a big brother, a mentor. But he taught me professionalism as far as how to separate from the hood and how to, you know, get on a business venture, and just look forward and not really pay attention to what’s behind you,” said Snoop, 52.

“He’s always had the attitude and spirit of ‘I don’t care about what I’ve made, it’s all about what I’m about to make.’ And that’s a good spirit that I’ve taken from him,” added the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist. “I don’t even know how many albums I’ve made since I started, but it’s always about what’s next, what’s best.”

Snoop added of Dre, 59: “He’s like a big brother, protector. I just love being with him in the studio and in real life.”

The pair recently teamed up to launch Gin & Juice by Dre and Snoop, a ready-to-drink canned cocktail inspired by Snoop’s 1994 single of the same name, produced by Dre.

The beverage marks their latest collaboration — decades after Snoop first earned recognition from featuring on Dre’s debut single “Deep Cover” in 1992 and several tracks from his The Chronic album the following year.

The Beats Electronics founder then produced Snoop’s 1993 debut album, Doggystyle, and they’ve since joined forces on many occasions, including the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show in Los Angeles, through today.

Elsewhere in the Capital XTRA interview, Snoop opened up about how he enjoys the way Dre takes “control” when they work together. “I say that, and I really mean that, because outside of Dr. Dre, I’m like the boss; I’m the one who has to call the shots at creating, make sure and all this,” he said, before adding: “When I’m with him, I can just be an artist, I can just be Snoop Dogg.”

Dre agreed, explaining the “What’s My Name?” rapper can take “the passenger seat” when they’re in collaboration: “It takes a massive amount of trust to be in this position to let somebody like Snoop and his calibre trust me with his s—.”

“You know what I mean? That means I can f— up,” he continued. “I love being in that seat, and I love that he gives me that trust with his career, and I’m never going to let my bro down.”
