Imtiaz Ali recently revealed the reason behind not working with Kareena Kapoor Khan after Jab We Met. The filmmaker also dismissed the reports of not making the sequel of the classic Bollywood film.

Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met is one of the cult movies of all time, as it has a separate fan base. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead, the movie was released in theatres in 2007. There have been rumours of making Jab We Met 2 for a while now but filmmaker Imtiaz Ali has always dismissed them. He said that there is no plan to make a sequel of the iconic Bollywood movie. He also revealed the reason behind not working with Jab We Met star Kareena Kapoor Khan after the movie while the audience wanted them to collaborate for a project.

In an interview with News18, Imtiaz Ali said “Why have a sequel to Jab We Met (laughs)? If people want to keep relishing the film, they can keep watching the first one! There has to be a story and a reason to make Jab We Met 2. But let’s see if it happens. Never say never!”

Why Imtiaz Ali didn’t work with Kareena Kapoor after Jab We Met?

The director said, “Whenever you work with an actor, there’s also a responsibility to not do anything just for the sake of it. The idea is to reunite only when there’s a better or a completely different project compared to what you’ve done before.”

He further added, “Kareena and I are so fond of working with each other but we’ve never had the chance to work again till date because there was nothing different and unique enough or better than what we’ve done before. It has to be something interesting, otherwise, it’s useless. We don’t want to dull the memory of Jab We Met. If you’ve had a great experience working with an actor, the next experience should also be good, otherwise there’s no point. I look at it that way.”
