Phoenix Mercury stars Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner have been dealt relieving news for their 2024 Olympic hopes. Both players have officially returned from injury after missing time in the team’s recent schedule.
Taurasi missed three straight games following a lower leg injury. Heading into Sunday’s bout against the Connecticut Sun, she had a “questionable” tag on her availability. However, Taurasi was upgraded to probable nearly an hour before tip-off and ultimately played. Mikiah Herbert Harrigan started in place of the 42-year-old while she was sidelined.
Griner is working through a hip injury that she suffered in the Mercury’s recent 95-86 loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The 6-foot-9 center left the game in the second quarter, but a quick recovery had her returning against the Sun.
