For the past two days, the Internet has been obsessing over something Selena Gomez whispered to Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry at the Golden Globes 2024. Many believed Gomez was gossiping about Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, a theory that was quickly disproven by the Wonka actor himself. Now, Gomez is setting the record straight and sharing what exactly she told her girls.
The viral video from the night showed Selena Gomez rushing to Taylor Swift and Keleigh Sperry’s table during a commercial break to deliver some breaking news. Judging from Gomez’s reserved demeanor and Swift and Sperry’s exaggerated response, we all knew it was some gossip. But what was tea?
Gomez’s comments came after a source had already denied to People that she was gossiping about the couple. “She was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie,” the source shared shortly after the Globes, noting that Gomez “never even saw or spoke” to the couple.
This is the second time in less than a year that Selena Gomez has gone viral for a candid interaction caught at an awards show. Despite the shenanigans online, Gomez seems to have looked past the drama. “Thank you for such a wonderful evening,” the star wrote on Instagram, recapping her night at the Globes. “Honored to be there in such good company.”
Even if that’s the case, the actor has decided to take (another) well-timed social media break. Shortly after setting the record straight, Gomez shared a sweet video of boyfriend Benny Blanco, writing on her Instagram Stories, “I’m off social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters.”
