After a close save in Game 1 of ALDS against Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees stepped into Game 2 on Monday with a lot of confidence and belief. However, the offense ended up being shaky and had no response to the Royals’ elite pitching standards.
On op of that, Yankees starter Carlos Rodon imploded on the mound, thus putting the team into early pressure. The end result of the chaos was indeed a 4-2 loss which has allowed the Royals to make a comeback in the five-game series. However, despite the setback, the Bronx Bombers remain hopeful of a better future.

However, despite Rodon’s implosion, the Yankees had plenty of chances to make up for it. Giancarlo Stanton hit a hard line drive that turned into a double play, while Aaron Judge narrowly missed a two-run homer in the third inning. The team also faced troubles with runners in scoring position, going just 3-for-19 in those situations. Having said that, third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. didn’t shy away from sharing his belief in his team’s superiority, claiming that the Royals “just got lucky.” With the five-game series split 1-1, the Yankees will look to bounce back in Game 3 at Kauffman Stadium, where Seth Lugo will start for the Royals, while the Bronx Bombers will rely on their game-breakers to come through in critical moments. As captain Aaron Judge put it, the team needs to “show up in Kansas City” and capitalize on their opportunities to advance in the postseason.
Aaron Boone Counts Positives From Game 2 Loss
After the Yankees’ 4-2 loss to the Royals in Game 2 of the ALDS, manager Aaron Boone emphasized the importance of capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Reflecting on the missed chances, Boone stated, “You gotta take advantage of opportunities when you get them. The good thing is we’re giving ourselves those opportunities,” Boone said.
Despite the tough loss, Boone remained optimistic about the team’s chances, acknowledging the high stakes of playoff baseball. “Hopefully, we’ll regroup tomorrow and go take care of Game 3. That’s the next thing in front of us,” Boone added, stressing the need to focus on the upcoming game and take it one step at a time. With the Yankees in 1-1 split, Game 3 will be critical to their postseason hopes.
