On the Aug. 23 episode of her podcast, appropriately titled “Just a Little Shady,” Hailie discussed her father’s music from his new album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).”

The video for “Somebody Save Me” features home videos of some of Eminem’s darker parenting moments with his three young daughters.

Over the spare background music of the song, he raps: “Another pill as I start to spiral / Message to my daughters: I don’t even deserve the father title / Hailie, I’m so sorry. I know I wasn’t there for your first guitar recital / Didn’t walk you down the aisle, missed the birth of your first child, your first podcast /Looking down, sweetie, I’m so proud of how you turned out / Sorry that I chose drugs and put ’em above you / Sorry that I didn’t love you enough to give ’em up / How the f— do I not love you more than a pill?”

Eminem's Daughter Hailie Jade Says She 'Audibly Sobbed' at Her Dad's New Music — and 'Can't' Listen Again

Hailie said that even when she heard a snippet of the song as part of her podcast promo, she wanted to turn the volume down.

“Are you trying to make me cry?” she asked her co-host, Brittany Ednie.

“Somebody Save Me,” featuring Jelly Roll, isn’t the only new song that references Hailie. “Temporary,” featuring Skylar Grey, includes recordings of her as a toddler.

In “Temporary,” Eminem says that he wrote the song for his daughter because “what scares me the most” is “not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you.” He follows with a series of things he wants his daughter to know after he dies. “Yeah, so Hailie Jade, I wrote you this song to help you cope with life now that I’m gone,” he raps.

“I audibly sobbed,” Hailie said. “I think for both songs, but especially ‘Temporary.’”

Though listening to the songs was an emotional experience, Hailie said she did gain a newfound perspective of her childhood.

“I will say, like, watching the video back and, like, listening to the songs, I feel like my parents did such a good job growing up where I didn’t realize how bad things were,” she said. “But now, as an adult, in hindsight, it’s so scary to think about, and I think that’s why I get emotional so much, just thinking that that could have happened.”

She continued, “If you’ve ever lost an addict, or loved one, I feel for you. But it’s a great video, and it’s fun to see clips of us when we were younger like that, even ‘Mockingbird.’ But I can’t even listen to that anymore without crying. The older I get, the less I can listen to any of the songs.”

Hailie is a newlywed. She married her longtime partner, Evan McClintock, in May of this year and shared photos of the big day on Instagram.
