New York Knicks fans are extremely worried about Mikal Bridges’ new jumper after they were decimated by the Boston Celtics on opening night. Bridges had a rough offseason with his new shot, and it continued in the first half of the game on Tuesday. An NBA analyst even poked fun at the new Knicks star’s jump shot.

The Knicks went all in during the offseason, acquiring Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets for three players and five first-round picks. However, the Villanova product had a rough preseason, going 2 for 19 from beyond the arc with his new shooting form.

Bridges was off to a rocky start in the first half, shooting 0 for 5, including four missed shots from 3. It prompted NBA analyst and journalist Myles Brown to mock his form.

“Mikal jumper changed its pronouns to nah/son,” Brown tweeted.

In the second half, Mikal Bridges seemed more comfortable with his shot and alleviated some concerns. Bridges went 4 for 5 when the game was basically over to finish with 16 points and two assists on 7 for 13 shooting. It will be interesting to see if his good second half will translate into their next game.

According to the New York Post, Bridges had a goal in mind to fix his jump shot because of a hitch he picked up when he entered the league. He had a smooth form when he was at Villanova and is trying to get back in the offseason.

“Ever since I got into the league, been trying to fix it back to when I was in college,” Bridges said. “So it’s been seven years of just every day. … When I came out of college, I kind of tweaked it a little bit. And then my second year in the league, I had the hitch, and tried to build back from that ever since. So just trying to get it right, pretty much it.”

Bridges is a career 48.0% shooter from the field and 37.5% from 3s. He’s coming off a second-career-worst 43.6% shooting in his final season with the Brooklyn Nets.

Josh Hart is not happy with people slandering Mikal Bridges after just one game with the New York Knicks. Hart told reporters that fans have nothing to worry about and it’s “stupid” to talk about his new shooting form.

“Mikal don’t care about anything else,” Hart said, according to SNY. “We don’t care about all the background noise on Mikal, his shot. We don’t care about it. He puts the work in every day, he’s going to be good. The talk around it is stupid.

“There’s stupidity to it. At the end of the day, he’s been almost a 40 percent career three-point shooter. Talk around it is stupid and we’re not going to entertain it.”

Bridges, Hart and the Knicks are back in action on Friday night at Madison Square Garden for their home opener against the Indiana Pacers.
