Fans react as Connor McDavid scores 100th playoff point
NHL fans online reacted to Connor McDavid reaching 100 career playoff points in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals series between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars at Rogers Place on Monday.
Connor McDavid scored at 7:37 of the first period to put the Oilers up 2-0 after converting a brilliant pass from Mattias Ekholm near the goal crease for a tap-in. This was the fourth overall goal for the Oilers captain in the 2024 playoffs and the second against the Stars in the series.
McDavid netted a goal and an assist, making him the fourth-quickest player in playoff history to hit the 100-point milestone in 64 games. Wayne Gretzky remains the fastest to reach 100 points in the playoffs; accomplishing the feat in just 46 games.
Notably, the Oilers have four of the fastest players to reach 100 points in the playoffs. Mario Lemieux (2nd) is the only exception to the trend, achieving this milestone in fewer games (50) without being part of the Edmonton Oilers organization.
Hockey fans wasted no time in reacting to Connor McDavid’s milestone by sharing their thoughts on X/Twitter.
One fan tweeted:

Connor McDavid on Game 2 loss against Dallas Stars
The best-of-seven Western Conference finals series between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars is tied 1-1, with Game 3 in progress at Rogers Place on Monday night.
The Oilers suffered a tough 3-1 loss to the Stars in Game 2. McDavid reflected on the loss and emphasized the narrow margins in such tight games. He reckoned that sometimes the difference between winning and losing could be as small as a slight deflection in front of the net.
McDavid acknowledged the positive aspect of splitting the first two games but expressed disappointment in not seizing the opportunity to win.
He said (via NHL.com):
“The margins are small. It’s tight games. The difference is a little tip in front and that’s it,” Oilers captain Connor McDavid said. “I guess that’s a positive [to split the first two games]. Never like to lose. We had a big opportunity here tonight and we didn’t capitalize.”
McDavid is the second-leading scorer in the playoffs with 25 points (four goals and 21 assists) in 15 games.
