The Tampa Bay Lightning are being sold according to a report today, as the asking price for the team, is astronomical.
It’s been reported on X that the Tampa Bay Lightning as close to completing a sale of the Lightning, for an amount of $2 Billion dollars. Elliotte Friedman confirmed the sale price.
According to reports, the businessman Doug Ostrover who owns Blue Owl Capital will be buying the team from Vinik. If the deal goes through, this could break the record for the highest sale valuation of an NHL team, since the Ottawa Senators were bought last year.
As the Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the NHL’s best teams, it’s understandable how the team’s value has peaked so quickly. The growth of hockey in Florida has been amazing, considering the Lightning is only 30 years old as a franchise.
The deal has not been finalized, but it appears that Doug Ostrover will own the Tampa Bay Lightning soon.
