Rick Ross Addresses Drake Feud: No Conspiracy, Just Rap Beef.
Rick Ross recently set the record straight on his involvement in the high-profile rap feud against Drake, which ignited earlier this year after Kendrick Lamar threw the first punch. While the beef involved multiple artists, including Future, Metro Boomin, A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, and others, Ross insists there was no grand scheme behind it—just pure rap rivalry.
During his appearance at the Nightcap Summer Sessions: LIVE from Houston show on August 25, hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, Ross was questioned about the intense lyrical war that played out this year. The Florida rapper downplayed the notion of a conspiracy, explaining his response was simply a natural reaction to his name being brought up in the heat of the moment.
“I’ma be honest. On some rap shit – it was no conspiracies,” Ross stated. “Rozay name was said [so] I’ma jump off the porch. That’s what I do. I’ma jump off the porch and I’ma have some fun and that’s what I did. I had some fun.”
The feud heated up after Kendrick Lamar’s initial jab, which sparked disses from other big names in the industry. Future and Kendrick teamed up on “We Don’t Trust You,” and followed up with the equally charged “We Still Don’t Trust You.” A$AP Rocky also took shots at Drake on his track “Show of Hands,” where he made bold claims about a past relationship with Drake’s baby mother, Sophie Brussaux.
“N-ggas swear they bitch the baddest, I just bagged the worst one/ N-ggas in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or somethin’?/ I smashed before you birthed son, Flacko hit it first, son,” Rocky rapped, stirring up further drama.
Rocky didn’t stop there; he also threw shade at Drake’s recent album, For All the Dogs: “Still don’t trust you, it’s always us, never them/ Heard you dropped your latest shit/Funny how it just came and went (Ha ha ha).”
Drake, never one to shy away from a feud, seemingly baited A$AP Rocky over his past relationship with Rihanna on his track “Another Late Night,” rapping: “I ain’t Pretty Flacko, bitch, this shit get really Rocky/ Damn, what? Dirty how I did him in the Wraith.”
The Weeknd also chimed in on the drama, using his appearances on “We Still Don’t Trust You” to voice frustrations toward his former friend Drake, particularly on the song “All to Myself.”
Rick Ross, for his part, coined the nickname “BBL Drizzy” and playfully trolled the OVO rapper on social media amid the chaos. However, things took a more serious turn when Ross was jumped by Drake fans during an appearance in Toronto, an incident that left the rapper unfazed.
While the beef has cooled down in recent months, rumors suggest Drake is gearing up to reignite the feud with Kendrick Lamar. With tensions still simmering beneath the surface, fans can expect more lyrical jabs and diss tracks as the drama unfolds.
For now, the rap world watches closely, anticipating the next move in this ongoing saga. Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and others have all played their parts, but it seems this rivalry is far from over. As Drake prepares for another round, the stage is set for a thrilling continuation of one of hip-hop’s most talked-about feuds.
Stay tuned for more updates as this high-stakes rap battle continues to captivate fans around the globe.
