Jeremy Swayman of the Leafs’ Atlantic d
Division rival Boston Bruins was unceremoniously roasted by ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ Hailey Welch over his contract dispute.

Monday afternoon, Boston Bruins management addressed the media and were asked a number of questions about the contract status of current RFA goaltender Jeremy Swayman. One of the questions garnered an answer from Cam Neely that instantly went viral.
“I Have 64 million reasons why I’d be playing right now,” said Neely.
The quote seemingly implied that the Bruins had offered a contract to Swayman that totalled $64M over an unknown term. Neely’s comment sparked a response from Lewis Gross, Swayman’s agent, revealing that it was actually the first time that $64M had been mentioned. As tensions rise between Swayman and the Bruins, social media star, ‘Hawk Tuah Girl’ Hailey Welch, responded to a post on ‘X’ suggesting Swayman should be the next guest on her podcast.
“Not after he rejected $8M at 8 years…” responded Welch from her podcast’s ‘X’ account.

The response and support of the Bruins from Welch came out of the blue and shocked the hockey community. It also goes to show just how poorly this negotiation has been handled by both sides from the beginning.

As Leafs fans, however, it is nice to be on the other side of a negotiation watching another fanbase stress over their star instead of being the ones stressing. With no resolution close, it could make for a very stressful week and a half leading up to the Bruins’ start of the regular season, much to the pleasure of other fans around the league — especially in Toronto and Montreal.
