In the shot-clock violation rule, once a team gains possession, they have 24 seconds to make a shot that hits the basket rim or goes through the hoop. If the team doesn’t attempt a shot within that time, or if the shot doesn’t hit the rim, they lose possession of the ball, as Harden did with Wembanyama until the clock ran out.
