Jeremy Swayman has signed his new contract!

Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins have signed a new deal on Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins have officially come to terms on a new agreement according to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun. The new deal will see Swayman earn an average annual value and salary cap hit of $8.25 million per season over the next 8 years on a max term contract.

As it turns out both sides have agreed to a number that is fairly close to the one that was cited by Bruins president Cam Neely last week, a moment that caused quite a stir and even led to some believing that Swayman could be traded before the start of the season.

According to LeBrun, the deal will contain a significant amount of signing bonuses, over $20 million in fact according to the insider.

At the end of the day most believed this deal would eventually get done given that Swayman has established himself as an incredibly important piece of the Bruins core roster. Swayman has officially taken over the reigns as the organizations’ number one goaltender following the trade of long time goalie partner Linus Ullmark earlier this summer, and after establishing himself as a dominant force during the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.

In total Swayman has played 132 games for the Bruins during his NHL career, recording a 2.34 goals against average and a .919 save percentage over that stretch of play. The one thing that Swayman has not yet done is take on the workload of a number one National Hockey League goaltender over the course of a full season, something that he will now have to prove he can do off the back of this big new contract.

The Bruins have officially confirmed the reports.

Stay tuned for more details.
