The Carolina Hurricanes have narrowed down their trade partners recently for Martin Necas.
But what the asking price from their 5 to 7 potential trade partners won’t be picks and prospects, as once thought.
But the team wants star power in return for Necas, and the Blackhawks have likely made the final cut, according to Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman of 32TP
Friedman on 32TP: “Carolina is letting people know that they consider Necas a budding star and that’s the kind of return they want…Star power is what they want in return, I heard”
«Word is the Hurricanes at this point in the process have received concrete trade offers for Martin Necas but nothing yet they would say yes to should continue to heat up next week at the draft in Las Vegas.»
If the Blackhawks do have want the Hurricanes want, it appears that Seth Jones could be the piece sent to Carolina in return for Martin Necas.
As you remember, Jones comments during the beginning of the off-season that he wasn’t a fan of sticking around during a rebuild. Sending Jones to Carolina would be an ideal situation for the veteran defenseman, while clearing some salary cap space all the while.
Rumors of Necas possibility for a trade picked up during the off-season, as Necas’ father expressed how the young center disliked how he was used by Rod Brind’Amour, not on the 1st line or first power-play, and wants a fresh start elsewhere.
Necas is a consistent producer, so whatever team wins the Necas sweepstakes will have a skillful forward who posted 53 points this season, and 71 points in 2022-2023.
The forward is an arbitration-eligible RFA, as his bridge deal comes to an end in Carolina.
As the draft comes closer and closer, could we see a trade soon?
