If someone stops me on the street there are two possibilities: they recognize me or they think I’m Ed Sheeran! I have known about this mistake for a long time” – British actor Rupert Grint, 28 years old, confessed.

Making his name with the Harry Potter wizard film series, Rupert Grint said he was not surprised when someone mistook him for British pop singer Ed Sheeran because the two looked like twins. Rupert confirmed this in his latest interview on March 7 for the Late Late Show television program.

“Sometimes a fan stops me, but it turns out it’s Ed’s fan! So I couldn’t guess whose fan the person approaching was, Ed’s or mine! At one point, even disco legend Leo Sayer thought I was Sheeran. Approaching me, Leo said he loved music and… greeted Ed instead of me. In general, the odds of guessing correctly are 50/50,” Grint told host James Corden.

The Sick Note actor revealed he has no problem occasionally calling himself a Grammy Award-winning singer. In 2011, in the Lego House music video, Grint tried to impersonate Sheeran and lip-sync the singer’s voice but no one recognized him. Also this year, in an interview for MSN, Grint shared how he collaborated with Sheeran on a number of projects.

“Because the two are quite similar, with just a little adjustment, one can easily replace the other. When the audience found out, they just laughed happily and had no opinion at all” – Grint confided.

Ed Sheeran just scored the “fastest selling album of all time by a male singer” and had 7 singles in the Top 10 in the same week. His newly released album ÷ or Divide went straight to the top of the chart UK’s Official Album Chart with more than 672,000 albums sold. The previous two albums were 2012’s + and 2014’s x. Divide is the third fastest selling album since the recording industry. The other two albums are 25 by Adele and Be Here Now by the band Oasis.

Sheeran also beat the record for “most listened to album on the internet in the first week of release with 375 million listens on Spotify alone. But despite his huge success, Sheeran seems more comfortable holed up in the lakeside hut at his property in Suffolk than on the music stage.

About to tour for 2 years, but Sheeran prefers “Ending life as a singer”. He said that although his latest song Shape Of You (in Divide, he wrote for the group Little Mix but decided to keep it for himself) and Castle On The Hill sold well, he could still do better.

In Howard Stern’s interview program on US Radio, he said: “When recording the first album, a song called The A Team appeared in my mind and I believed it was the biggest song of my life. But by the second album, all the songs were bigger than that.”
