Clay Travis Suggests WNBA Players Are Discriminating Against Caitlin Clark Due to Her Being in a “Black Lesbian League”
Outkick’s Clay Travis recently made controversial claims about the WNBA, asserting that the league is predominantly lesbian and attributing the hostility towards Caitlin Clark to her sexuality. Speaking on Fox News, Travis argued that Clark, a former Iowa star, faces discrimination not just because of her race, but also because she is heterosexual.
Travis pointed out that Clark has endured harsh treatment, including numerous hard fouls and cheap shots, during her first season. While some believe there is a racial bias at play, Travis insists that sexuality is a significant factor as well. “Caitlin Clark is a white heterosexual woman in a predominantly black lesbian league,” he said. “They resent and are jealous of the attention and the shoe deal she received.”
Travis emphasized that instead of acknowledging the reality—that great athletes bring more attention and revenue to the league—some players are reacting negatively to Clark’s presence and success.
Outkick’s Clay Travis recently made controversial claims about the WNBA, asserting that the league is predominantly lesbian and attributing the hostility towards Caitlin Clark to her sexuality. Speaking on Fox News, Travis declared that “well over half of the women in the WNBA are lesbian—70% lesbian.” He believes Clark, a former Iowa star, faces discrimination because she is heterosexual and has a boyfriend. “There are two different identity politics universes that she doesn’t fit into in this league,” Travis said. “They don’t like her because she’s white and they don’t like her because she’s straight. As a result, the league is coming undone around her, even though she’s bringing in new fans.”
Travis is not alone in his claims. Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett echoed similar sentiments on the “It Is What It Is” podcast, referring to WNBA players as part of a “big lesbian league.” Both Travis and Clarett’s statements have sparked significant controversy and debate surrounding the dynamics within the WNBA.
