Real reason Meghan and Harry won’t be following Ellen's footsteps after she flees US and debuts shocking new look

Ellen Degeneres moved to the UK last week, and has reportedly vowed ‘never’ to return to the States

After Ellen DeGeneres last week vowed she’d ‘never’ step foot on US soil again following Donald Trump’s re-election, other celebs have appeared to follow suit.

Apparently, however – despite half of their family residing in the UK, and having a pretty impressive palace residence to return to – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be staying put, according to reports.

Last week, an insider close to TV star revealed that Ellen and her wife Portia di Rossi had flown to the UK to start afresh, and will ‘never return’ until their home-country stabilises politically.

The source told The Wrap that they’d settled down in the Cotswolds in South West England, after which they were reportedly spotted enjoying an ice cold beer in Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog.

The move was said to be prompted by the recent presidential election, which Republican representative Donald Trump won over Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, with the insider claiming the pair – who married in 2008 – won’t fly back to the US while Trump is in the White House.

Several other big-name stars are said to have left the States following Trump’s victory – including Eva Longoria, who now splits her time between Spain and Mexico, and Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner, who admitted that she was concerned about increasing political hostilities in America.

Other celebs have also hit headlines for hinting at plans to leave – examples including America Ferrera, Barbra Streisand, Laverne Cox and Cher.

Naturally, therefore, some have been left wondering whether this might prompt the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to fly back to Harry’s home-country.

According to a former member of Buckingham Palace staff, however, the couple will not be ‘following suit’, and plan to remain in their Montecito home.

Grant Harrold – who’d previously worked as King Charles’ personal butler – told The New York Post this week: “Meghan’s too much of an American girl, she doesn’t want to be in the UK permanently.

“I can see her coming over for the holidays and having time over here, but living here permanently? I just don’t see it.”

Harrold further claimed, however, that he believes Harry would be keen to return to the UK, and that the 40-year-old Prince will likely make the move eventually.

“I do see it,” he confessed. “I think he could be open to returning. As I always keep saying, never say never.”

The Sussexes have remained primarily out of the UK since 2020, when they made the decision to emigrate overseas to the US with their son, Archie.

As well as stepping down from official duties in the years that followed, the pair set up home on the West Coast of the US and welcomed their youngest child, a now-three daughter named Lillibet.

In 2023, Harry released his memoir Spare, where he spoke about his life in the Royal Family.

In the memoir, he also make a very shocking reveal about losing his virginity, as well as an NSFW admission about an encounter with his wife.
